Afton Hill Training Session #2 * Tomorrow (Thurs)!

Hi Riders,

Please plan to join us tomorrow in Afton for Hill Training Session #2.  The forecast calls for a beautiful evening, so be sure to come!

Details:

  • Start time:  5:30 SHARP.  Be on your bike and in front of Selma’s Ice Cream at 5:25 for pre-ride instructions, then we head out to warm up then onto the hills.  As always, if you can’t get to Afton right at 5:30, no worries.  Get there when you can and join us on the hill. 
  • These rides are open to all riders and all abilities.  We do hill repeats, so nobody gets left behind.  So come to ride and invite all your cycling friends.
  • Ride any bike; road bike, MTB, gravel, ‘cross, TT, any bike works.

Climbing hills is the absolute “best return on your training time invested,” and it’s much better working hard on the hill with others.  Please contact me with questions.

Afton Hill Training * Thursday (Tomorrow)!

Please plan to join us tomorrow in Afton for another evening of hill training.  The current forecast calls for a dry evening, so assuming the roads are dry, let’s go (even if you rode hills on Tuesday)!

  • Start time:  5:30 SHARP.  Be on your bike and in front of Selma’s Ice Cream at 5:25 for pre-ride instructions, then we head out to warm up then onto the hills.  As always, if you can’t get to Afton right at 5:30, no worries.  Get there when you can and join us on the hill.  NOTE:  I’m trying to get permission to ride on the Afton Ski Area hill road, so if you come late and son’t see us on the coulee, ride to the Afton Ski area and you’ll find us there.  And as always, if you can’t

We had a GREAT turnout on Tuesday, especially with it being a non-traditional night.  Thursday is our normal hill climbing day, so tomorrow is officially Day 1.  And with this, let’s start the Hill Season with a huge number of riders.  Please contact me with any questions.  See you tomorrow!!

We normally ride on Thursdays, but the forecast calls for rain Thursday, so let’s start tomorrow.  The weather is supposed to be beautiful, so let’s take advantage of it.

Indoor Cycling Training begins January 3!!

Do you want 2019 to be your BEST season ever?  If so, start NOW!
Our annual Winter Session of Indoor Training begins on Thursday, January 3, 2019.  This first night is a “Bonus” session and will be the Time Trial for both Thursday AND Monday riders.
We’ll train in the basement of Penn Cycle: Woodbury once again, as we have for the past several years. A big Thank You to Penn Cycle for your support.  We’ll train twice per week in the winter session, on Monday and Thursday evenings.

We have a limited number of spots available, and at this point it’s on a first come, first served basis.  So if you’re interested, please contact me ASAP or register by following the link at the bottom of this note.

(NOTE:  As of today there are 5 openings on Thursday evenings and 11 openings for Monday evenings)

Monday evenings at Penn Cycle Woodbury (5:30 pm start).

  • 11 sessions including January 7, 14, 21, 28.  Feb 4, 11, 18, 25.  March 11, 18, 25.  (No training on March 4).  PLUS the Bonus Time Trial on Thursday, January 3.
  • Training held at Penn Cycle’s Woodbury location
  • Cost for 11 training sessions is $159 (less than $15 per training ride).
  • NOTE: I extend a 50% discount to the athletes I’m currently training 1-1.

Thursday evenings at Penn Cycle Woodbury (5:30 pm start).

  • 11 training sessions, including: Jan 10, 17, 24, 31.  Feb 7, 14, 21, 28.  March 14, 21, 28.  (No training on March 7).  PLUS the Bonus Time Trial on Thursday, January 3.
  • Training held at Penn Cycle’s Woodbury location
  • Cost for 11 training sessions is $159 (less than $15 per session).
  • NOTE: I extend a 50% discount to the athletes I’m currently training 1-1.

To maximize your preparation, join us twice a week for only $269

Each ride is approximately 90 minutes long. There will a different focus on each night (Monday and Thursday), with threshold, VO2 Max and leg strength being key areas of emphasis. Then it will all come together the final weeks to simulate the rigors of outdoor riding. Each rider will be 100% prepared for the outdoor season in April. Each ride is 100% unique, and the training load will progress throughout the 11 weeks.

Indoor Training begins TONIGHT!

Our winter indoor training season begins tonight.  Wow, it’s hard to believe that November has arrived already!

Prior to beginning tonight, I wanted to send our a very sincere Thank You to the dedicated riders taking part.  This is the largest group ever as we are completely sold out and filled to capacity.  So THANK YOU for your support and for your dedication to your training.  It’s awesome and is going to be an amazing 8 Indoor Training Sessions.

If you’re interested in participating from wherever you are, just let me know and for a nominal investment you can join our group “virtually” as I’ll send you the exact ride plans we’ll be using each session.

Rain is in the forecast – keep your bike clean!

We’ve had a great fall riding season, but the weather is changing and we have rain in the forecast for the next several days.

Speaking of rain (and mud), congratulations to all you who raced the Chequamegon MTB races this past weekend (the 40 or the 16).  With 2″ – 4″ of rain just before the start of the race, you encountered some seriously challenging conditions.  As many of you pointed out, once getting over the discomfort of getting wet and muddy, you embraced the opportunity to be a kid again.  What a great attitude!
