Our outdoor hill training sessions in Afton come to an end tonight, and I hope you can join us.
We always wrap up the week of the Chequamegon Fat Tire Fest as many of our riders finish their season with this race, as well as the fact that the days are getting shorter.
Tonight’s ride will be “shorter and easier” than most, as it’ll be a tapering session for the Chequamegon riders.
As always, we’ll meet in front of Selma’s, on our bikes and ready to go, at 5:25 then we’ll roll out for what will be a ride of about an hour or so.
The plan for tonight is an extended warmup, a handful of short intervals, then a long cooldown. So it’ll be a nice way to wrap up the hill training season.
See you tonight!
The store is OPEN, but only through end of day TODAY!!!!! Follow the link below to take you to the store.
Your order will be shipped to you individually, and Pactimo (the vendor for the kits) has told me it will be a 4 week turnaround. The store closes today, and we should expect to receive our shipment on Oct 4.
Once again, here is the basic design of the kit. When you go to the store you’ll see each piece and what it looks like.
Please don’t hesitate. Get over there and place your order so we can avoid the last-minute scramble at closing time.
Most of you have seen the kits out on the road this year. If you haven’t worn one yet, I know you’ll like the feel and durability of the kits. Thank you in advance for your support. Please contact me with any questions you have.
Riders, don’t miss our hill ride in Afton this evening. This will be Week 2 of our Fall 5-week hill training rides.
If you’re racing Chequamegon, perfect, you should come. If you’re racing cyclocross, perfect, you should come. If you’re racing a late season Ironman, please come. And if your race/event season is over, just come to test your fitness and to keep sharp. Fall training is a little different from what we do in the spring. We ride a 4.5 mile hilly loop and tack on some additional short, steep hills. It’s great fun!
The rides are open to all, so please join us if you’re available.
Meet in front of Selma’s Ice Cream at 5:25 pm. I’ll do a quick pre-ride briefing (with tonight’s ride plan) then we’ll roll out by 5:30 sharp.
Ride your mountain bike, your cross bike, your road bike or your tri bike. Just be there, and bring your friends!
Message me with questions. See you later today!
Our fall session of Afton hill training begins tomorrow, August 16 and runs for 5 weeks.
We’ll have to adapt slightly tomorrow as the base of the coulee is under construction and closed, so we’ll use the Pirate Ship hill instead.
As always, be on your bike and ready to go in front of Selma’s Ice Cream at 5:20. We’ll do a quick briefing and roll out by 5:30.
As many of you are closing in on Chequamegon, feel free to ride your MTB. Of course you can ride your road bike or tri bike as well as several of you are preparing for IM WI or other fall triathlons.
It’ll be good to see you all tomorrow and for the next 5 weeks.
Bring your climbing legs tomorrow!!
Where has the Spring gone? Tomorrow is Week #11 of our Afton Hill Climb series, and the FINAL SESSION until August.
Let’s get everybody to come. If you’ve been to Afton this spring – even once – please come tomorrow. And if you haven’t come yet, tomorrow will be a great day to join us. The weather is going to be great, so let’s take advantage and finish up with a HUGE turnout.
In addition to you coming, please invite all your cycling friends as the ride is open to all riders, regardless of ability, experience or type of bike (road, MTB, TT, ‘cross).
Please be on your bike and ready to go at 5:20 in front of Selma’s. I’ll do a quick pre-ride briefing, then we’ll head out for a short warmup then on to the hill approx 5:45.
So if you can’t be there right at 5:20 – 5:30, no problem. Come when you can. We’ll be on the hill until between 7:00 – 7:15 or so.
See you tomorrow!!
