The Brute is a challenging road ride through the hills of western Wisconsin. The challenge primarily results from what seems to be a never-ending series of 500-600 foot climbs, many of them exceptionally steep. There are two routes from which to choose - 100K & 200K, and includes well marked routes, rest stops and sag support.

I’m hosting at least one Brute pre-event ride this spring. I’ll update this page with details as soon as they’re available. Check back often!
- 2 dates: Sat, April 23 AND Sat May 7, 2011
- Start/finish in Fountain City, WI at the park on the south side of town, near the boat ramp. It’s on the west side of the road, right off WI highway 35.
- We’ll roll out at 8:00 sharp.
- The route is approximately 75 miles and includes 7 major climbs of 500-600 feet and several other smaller climbs. Total vertical for the day is about 5,200′
- This ride is will be supported with water and snacks, but come prepared with spare tubes, CO2, etc in case of flats or other minor mechanicals.
- There is 1 country store midway through the ride where we’ll stop for water and refueling.

- Ride fee and other info will be posted in the near future. I’ll also provide my phone number to those who reserve a spot.
This will be a great warmup for The Brute, the Horribly Hilly, the Dairyland Dare or other hilly event. Even if you’re not riding one of these events, come join us for a fun, hilly and challenging day in the saddle.
