The Brute is a challenging road ride through the hills of western Wisconsin. The challenge primarily results from what seems to be a never-ending series of 500-600 foot climbs, many of them exceptionally steep. There are two routes from which to choose - 100K & 200K, and includes well marked routes, rest stops and sag support.
It’s a great event, a challenging event and one you should consider adding to your season calender. You can find the specifics here:

I’m hosting a Brute pre-event ride. The details include:
- Saturday, May 1, 2010
- Start/finish in Fountain City, WI at the park on the south side of town, near the boat ramp. It’s on the west side of the road, right off WI highway 35.
- We’ll roll out at 8:00 sharp.
- The route is approximately 75 miles and includes 7 major climbs of 500-600 feet and several other smaller climbs. Total vertical for the day is about 5,200′
- This ride is unsupported, so be sure to bring all you may need in terms of food, tools, spare tubes, etc.
- There is 1 country store midway through the ride where we’ll stop for water and refueling.
- Contact me and I’ll send you a copy of the map and cue sheet.
- No fee or reservations required. However, I’d appreciate knowing if you’re coming. And if you’re coming, contact me and I can give you my cel phone number.
This will be a great warmup for The Brute or the Horribly Hilly. Even if you’re not riding one of these events, come join us for a fun, hilly and challenging day in the saddle.
