3 Planning Steps for the MN Ironman (or any upcoming event)

The MN Ironman Bike Ride (http://ironmanbikeride.org/) is fast approaching.  Sunday, April 25 is only 4 weeks from this weekend.  The winter in MN drags on for what seems to be an eternity, then all of a sudden Spring appears and the Ironman is right around the corner.  What will you do to prepare for the ride?

Well, there are 3 major categories to consider as you plan the upcoming 4 weeks, including:

  1. Training
  2. Equipment
  3. Clothing

I’ll discuss these in more detail over the next few days, but in a nutshell:

  1. Training:  This includes preparing your legs, your lungs and the rest of your body for the ride.  Depending on what training you have (or have not) done this winter, this is a major consideration, and time is running out!
  2. Equipment:  Primarily your bike.  You’ll want your machine to work flawlessly.  Is it ready?
  3. Clothing:  Weather can be highly unpredictable for the MN Ironman, or any spring event.  It could be hot or cold, wet or dry, raining or snowing.  And it most definitely will be windy.  I’ll give you some ideas on planning ahead for your clothing needs.

Be sure to check back in tomorrow for the first installment.  In this I’ll give you some last-minute training suggestions, and offer support to help prepare you for a fantastic event.  If you have specific questions you’d like me to address, contact me directly or add your questions below.  Do this, then GET OUT AND RIDE!
