Honor The TRUE Heroes

Memorial Day marks the first “unofficial” day of summer.  Today is also a day off work for many people, possibly you.  Cyclists all over the country are taking advantage of the day off to get in a long ride and some extra hours training.

That’s great.  Take advantage of the day and have a great ride.

But don’t be selfish.

Please remember just WHY you’re off work today.  And think about WHY you have the freedom to get in your long ride and do whatever else you’ll be doing today.

The purpose of Memorial Day is to honor the memories of those who have fought, and died, for our freedom.  It’s to remember the brave men and women who have been, and continue to be, in harm’s way.

We enjoy the freedoms we have today because of the generations of soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for us.  And our freedom continues to be defended today.

Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, husbands, wives and good friends are not home today.  Instead, they’re in dangerous places all over the world.  Some of these people will not come home.  Others will come home injured and changed forever.

Take some time today to offer your thoughts and prayers to these brave defenders of freedom, and to their families.

Thank you.
