Training is important. But so is recovery. I’ve discussed this concept several time. While we all conceptually realize the importance of stepping away temporarily in order to get the edge back, the intensity back and to get back the physical and mental ability to work hard, it’s tough for us to do.
And I’m no different. But, this week I’m stepping back. I’m going on vacation. And I’ll have no bike. It’s going to be wierd, but I’m looking forward to it. I need a break, and this “forced” time off the bike will allow me to come back stronger and fresher a week from now.
So I’ll be back in touch with you then. In the meantime, have a great week. If it’s your week to work hard, then do so. If it’s your recovery week, back off.

I’m hosting a seminar Thursday, March 19 in the Mpls/St Paul area, in conjunction with the MN Ironman Bike Ride, our “Rite of Spring.” Topics of discussion will be how to train in the final 6 weeks leading up to this event, but I’ll also branch out and discuss bicycle training in general.
I’ll get back to you with more details, but for now, I’ll plan to see you Thursday, March 19.
